2010 Men's tennis schedule announced

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas men’s tennis team will face tough competition in the 2010 dual season facing thirteen opponents who finished last season ranked in the top 50, including Ole Miss, Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas.

The Razorbacks are set to open the season at home with premier matches against Washington on Jan. 17 and Texas on Jan.22.

Next, Arkansas will join Ole Miss, Indiana and Columbia at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Indoors Kick-Off weekend in Oxford, Miss., Jan. 29-31. The top team will advance to the 2010 ITA Men’s National Indoor Championship, which will take place in Charlottesville, on Feb. 12-15.

The Razorbacks will return home for back-to-back matches against the University of Louisiana-Lafayette on Feb. 5 and Wichita State on Feb. 7.

Arkansas has claimed three of the last four matches against the Oklahoma Sooners and the Razorbacks will look to build on their streak in Norman, Okla. on Feb. 12. The team will make a pivotal trip to Eugene, Ore. to battle the Ducks on Feb. 19 before playing Cal Poly the following day.

Arkansas will return home to host three consecutive dual matches beginning with UMKC on Feb.27, Florida on Mar. 5 and South Carolina on March 7.

The Razorbacks then swing through Mississippi to challenge reigning conference champions Ole Miss on Mar. 12, followed by a March 14 trip to Starkville to face the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The road trip continues March 21, as the Razorbacks will face the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens, Ga.

Next on the schedule for Arkansas is a home date with Tennessee on March 28, followed by a quick trip to face Tulsa on March 31 before returning home to play Auburn on April 2.

Arkansas will travel to play the Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa, Ala., April 4 to close out the season’s road play.

The Razorbacks finish conference action with home matches against Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and LSU on April 9, 11 and 17, respectively. Arkansas’ match with the Wildcats gives the team the chance to avenge the heartbreaking loss that dismissed the Razorbacks in the 2009 Southeastern Conference tournament.

The Kentucky Wildcats will host this year’s SEC Championships in Lexington, Ky., April 22-25.

The NCAA season begins with the NCAA Team Championships in Athens, Ga. on May 7-8, followed by the NCAA Individual Championships, May 13-23.
