Anderson earns all-tourney honors

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Freshman Amanda Anderson earned her second career all-tournament team honor at the Arkansas Invitational in Barnhill Arena Saturday.

Arkansas struggled all day dropping two matches to North Texas and Kansas in the nightcap, 15-25, 18-25, 15-25.

The Razorbacks (6-5) never got any offense going in either match and trailed the Jayhawks for much of the match. Anderson finished the night with eight kills and a .467 hitting percentage. She had three blocks as well.

Anderson, a Euless, Texas, native, also earned all-tourney honors in the season opener at TCU.

Sophomore Kellie Stipanovich also had eight kills and hit .238 with six digs. Senior Kristin Seaton had seven kills and no hitting errors but the Razorbacks were out-hit .375-.179 in the final match and finished third in the tournament.

Kansas (7-2) was balanced with three players in double-digits paced by all-tournament selection Karina Garlington with 14 kills.

Arkansas dropped the first match of the day to North Texas in five sets, 25-14, 9-25, 25-19, 21-25, 17-19. Stipanovich had 14 kills and Norton 13 for Arkansas. The Razorbacks were out-hit in the match .173-.222 and out-blocked 10.5-11.0 by the Mean Green.
