FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas returns home to host border rival Missouri on Wednesday (Jan. 23). The game is set for 8 pm and will be broadcast on the SEC Network.

For the game, the Arkansas coaching staff will take part in the annual Suits And Sneakers Awareness Week, a nationwide event endorsed by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and American Cancer Society where basketball coaches across the country unite for a common cause – saving lives from cancer. Since its inception, Coaches vs. Cancer has raised over $115 million

Head coach Mike Anderson, who sits on the Coaches vs. Cancer Council, and his staff will have special gold laces on their Nike sneakers, designed specifically to honor Lacey Holsworth, an eight-year-old college basketball fan who passed away from cancer in 2014.

These special gold laces are symbolic of the efforts to eliminate pediatric cancer and the staff encourages fans to donate to the American Cancer Society and Princess Lacey’s Legacy.

The American Cancer Society is a global grassroots force of 2.5 million volunteers saving lives and fighting for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. As the largest voluntary health organization, the Society’s efforts have contributed to a 22 percent decline in cancer death rates in the U.S. since 1991.

  • This will be the 50th meeting between Arkansas and Missouri. The Razorbacks own a 26-23 advantage in the series, including a 15-9 advantage in games played in Fayetteville. Since Missouri joined the SEC for the 2012 season, Arkansas holds a 7-5 advantage over the span. The teams have split home-and-home series each of the last two years, but Arkansas has won six of the last eight, including five straight from 2015-17.
  • This game could be won — or lost — at the 3-point arc. Missouri leads the SEC in 3-point field goal percentage (.392) while Arkansas ranks second in the league in 3-point field goal percentage defense (.313). The game will also feature the top two 3-point shooters in the SEC as Missouri’s Mark Smith is making a league-best 46.7 percent of his 3-point attempts while Arkansas’ Isaiah Joe ranks second (43.6).
  • Bud Walton Arena – the Basketball Palace of Mid-America – has been one of the great venues since opening for the 1993-94 season. Arkansas has an all-time winning percentage of 81 percent (354-83) in the building and has ranked among the NCAA top 12 in attendance each of the last four years. In fact, Arkansas has never ranked outside the top 29 nationally in attendance since Bud Walton Arena opened. At some point, as fans pour into the Arena Wednesday, the 7,000,000th paid customer will walk through the gates. Through 25 seasons plus 11 home games this season, there have been 6,997,643 fans of Arkansas basketball meaning only 2,357 people need to attend the Missouri game to eclipse 7,000,000.
  • After playing hosting Missouri, Arkansas will return to the road to face #13 Texas Tech as part of the Big 12/SEC Challenge. It will be the Razorbacks’ third road game in a four-game span. All three road games will be versus top 25 teams (current #1 Tennessee, #20 Ole Miss and #13 Texas Tech) making Arkansas the only team in the country to play three road games versus three ranked teams in the span from Jan. 15-26.
