Arkansas Eighth After Day One at Fighting Irish Classic

Notre Dame, Ind. – The Razorback golf team sits in eighth place after the first round Sunday at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic being played on the par-70, 7,011-yard Warren Golf Course. Arkansas carded an opening-round 20-over-par 300. On the individual leaderboard, sophomore David Lingmerth is the top UA golfer heading into the second round.

Lingmerth fired a two-over-par 72 and is currently tied for 12th place. He is one shot ahead of teammate Andrew Landry who is tied for 17th place after a first-round 73. Lingmerth and Landry are four and five shots back, respectively, of the co-leaders atop the standings.

Allen McFerran, in his first appearance in the lineup, is third among UA golfers and tied for 42nd overall. Jason Turner and Barrett Lais carded rounds of 78 and 81, respectively, to round out the Razorback five-man team.

Michigan State leads the team competition after the first round with a five-over-par cumulative score. The individual lead is shared by the Spartans’ Graham Baillargeon and Doug Fortner of Notre at two under par.
