Arkansas hosts Tulsa in home opener

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Off a season-opening win on the road, Arkansas will open its home schedule Friday with a 7 p.m. matchup against Tulsa (1-1) at Razorback Field. This will be the 27th meeting between the two programs and the 10th straight season the teams will face one another.

Arkansas (1-0) will look to stay undefeated during the young season after a 1-0 win in its Aug. 22 season opener at Missouri State. Freshman Nikki Crocco scored the game’s only goal at the 71:43 mark and Britni Williams made three saves to preserve the shutout. Senior Megan Fawley earned the assist on the Razorbacks’ goal.

The Golden Hurricane come into the game off a 10-0 thumping of Southern in its last outing. On the season, Rebekah Riner, Courtney Chadney and Allie Rapp lead Tulsa with two goals each. Tulsa has outshot its opponents, 57-9, in its two games. Jennifer Kacergis is the leading returning scorer for Tulsa, which finished last season with a 3-14-2 record.

Arkansas trails in the all-time series with Tulsa, 8-17-1, but has reversed its fortunes in recent years and won four in a row against the Golden Hurricane. In last season’s meeting, Kelly O’Connor and Lindsay Patterson found the back of the net to lift Arkansas to a 2-0 victory in Fayetteville.

The Razorbacks are 5-7-1 at home against Tulsa, but have won the past two matches at Razorback Field. Tulsa has not picked up a win in Fayetteville since the 2002 season.
