Arkansas tennis revs up for Kansas on Saturday

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas Lady Razorback tennis team will look to stay undefeated when they take on the Kansas Jayhawks Saturday at the Billingsley Tennis Center.

“This is a really important match for us in more ways than one,” said Lady’Back head coach Michael Hegarty. It is our last dual match before we head to the National Team Indoor Championships next Wednesday, and Kansas always presents an extremely tough team.”

Arkansas, 3-0, downed Kansas in their only meeting last season at Kansas, 5-2. The Lady’Backs also lead the series, 9-7, dating back to 1981. The Lady’Backs are currently ranked 40th by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, but are still working hard in hopes of a climb to the top.

“Rankings don’t mean much this early in the season, but our girls want this to be a special season and it shows by the strong practices we have been completing,” Hegarty said.

Arkansas slaughtered Missouri in their last match, 7-0, one in which every Lady’Back in singles and doubles won their match finishing off the day 9-0 overall.

The match against Kansas is set to be in full swing at 1 p.m. Results of singles and doubles action can be found at LADYBACKS.COM immediately following the match.
