Arkansas Track and Field Set for John Jacobs Invite at OU

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – A slight change in plans for this weekend’s itinerary as the Hogs’ scheduled trip to Arizona State was cancelled because of airline issues. Arkansas will now compete at the John Jacobs Invitational, hosted by the University of Oklahoma, in Norman.

Field events will begin at 10 a.m. in Norman with the running events starting at 1 p.m. Live results will be available at www.soonersports.com and a full recap will be available on www.hogwired.com once the meet has concluded.

Arkansas will send its sprinters, jumpers and throwers to OU for the event. The distance harriers will rest this weekend and will compete again at next weekend’s John McDonnell Invitational.

Also competing in the John Jacobs Invitational will be the hosting Sooners, Kansas, Manhattan College, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts, TCU, UT-Arlington, Tulsa and Wyoming.

In this week’s U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, Arkansas slipped from the top 25. Seven of the SEC teams are ranked in this week’s top 25. In the RunnerSpace E-8 individual rankings, J-Mee Samuels sits at No. 6 in the 100 meters and Nkosinza Balumbu is No. 6 in the triple jump.

Last weekend at Texas Relays and the Stanford Invitational, Arkansas captured its 10th-straight 4×1,500M Texas Relays title. In addition, the Razorbacks earned seven regional-qualifying marks: javelin, long jump (2), triple jump, 4x100M (2) and pole vault. James Strang earned an NCAA automatic-qualifying time in the 10,000-meter run at the Stanford Invitational.
