Baseball Game Day Improvements

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – When Razorback Baseball fans provided feedback as part of fan survey, the University of Arkansas Department of Athletics not only listened – it responded. When the Razorbacks open the 2015 season, on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. in the first game of a three-game series versus North Dakota, fans will notice the many game day experience enhancements at Baum Stadium.

Working with its concession partner, Sodexo, Razorback Athletics has cut concessions pricing by $1 on many of the most popular items making the trip to Baum Stadium even more affordable. The addition of local radio personality Jon Williams will bring a familiar and enthusiastic voice to the important role of the public address announcer at Baum Stadium.

In addition, the department also made other improvements inside and outside the stadium including:

• remodeling restrooms

• the addition of pitching statistics on the scoreboards between innings

• the installation of improved signage defining sections and areas of interest around the stadium

• the addition of a second Hog Heaven merchandise kiosk

• new HD cable signals to the TVs in the stadium

• upgraded internet streaming of games from standard definition to HD on SEC Network+

• completed the fiber optic cable connections from Bud Walton Arena to the stadium for SEC Network/SECN+ broadcasts

• upgraded landscaping around the stadium

“We sincerely appreciate all those who took the time to provide us candid feedback as part of the SEC Fan Survey,” Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long said. “While we regularly track the gameday experience of our fans, the survey results provided information we needed to form a more focused plan for addressing what our fans find important. We have already made adjustments in many of the areas raised by the survey and we will continue to address other issues throughout the coming season. Baum Stadium is the best college baseball stadium in the country and we want it that to remain that way for many years to come”

Plans are already underway to add a new and improved video and scoreboard to Baum Stadium for the 2016 season. Among the new features will be a larger video display which can handle a high definition signal and a radar gun for tracking pitch speed. The display will be capable of highlighting one large image for video and instant replays, but it can also be divided into multiple sections to show a variety of scoring and statistical information, graphics and animations, sponsor messages and special announcements.
