Basketball Red-White Game set for Oct. 24

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas Razorbacks tip-off the 2008-09 basketball season with the Red-White Game on Friday, Oct. 24, at Bud Walton Arena.

For the first time, the Red-White Game is a combined event for the men’s and women’s basketball teams.

Admission to the scrimmage is one canned food item to be donated to the Salvation Army.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., followed by an autograph session with the men’s and women’s basketball teams on the concourse from 6:00-7:15 p.m. Scrimmages begin at 7:30 p.m. with halftime contests and entertainment taking place between the men’s and women’s scrimmages.

Season tickets for both men’s and women’s basketball are now on sale for the 2008-09 basketball season.

For the men’s basketball, season ticket holders gain access to 20 home games, including two non-conference games against Big XII rivals Texas and Oklahoma. The SEC schedule pits Arkansas against all the normal SEC foes, but the home schedule is highlighted with Kentucky and Tennessee coming to Bud Walton Arena.

On the women’s basketball schedule, the Razorbacks host non-conference games with Big 10 power Northwestern and Big XII Missouri. On the SEC schedule, defending national champion Tennessee and SEC regular season champion LSU visit Walton Arena.
