Burton Named To Community Service Team

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – In recognition for her good work outside of the gym, junior Michaela Burton has been named to the 2019 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, as announced by the League Tuesday afternoon. The community service team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.

Burton has volunteered her time participating in multiple community service projects, including Sweat and Book Hogs, and attending an MLK Day event on campus where student-athletes shared the importance of getting an education with local elementary school students. She has also taken time to visit with the children of Arkansas Children’s Hospital of Northwest Arkansas.

In her third season competing as a Razorback, Burton has shined on the balance beam, coming in as the No. 44 gymnast in the country on the event with an NQS of 9.875 and a high of 9.950 which she recorded at Auburn this season.

As announced yesterday, Burton and the Gymbacks will compete in the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional. The Hogs will compete against Utah, BYU and Minnesota in Semifinal I at 2 p.m. next Friday. The meet is scheduled to be streamed live on the SEC Network+.
