Ellis Earns Academic Recognition

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas junior linebacker Brooks Ellis has been named to the 2015 Academic All-District 6 first team by the College Sports Information Directors of America, announced Tuesday.

The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The honor recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

A four-time SEC Honor Roll member, Ellis holds a 3.77 GPA while working toward his undergraduate degree in pre-professional exercise science.

On the field, Ellis has tallied a team-leading 74 tackles, which ranks tied for seventh in the SEC. The Fayetteville native has eight or more tackles 11 times in his career, highlighted by five double-figure performances. In Arkansas’ 24-20 win at Tennessee earlier this season, Ellis registered a career-best 15 tackles, including 13 of the solo variety. He is also tied for the team active lead in career interceptions with three.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first, second and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
