Football Hogs host Tuesday morning practice

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Razorback football continued fall camp with the first of two practices schedule for Tuesday. The Hogs worked out for two hours in full pads on the practice fields just south of Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

"Practice was okay today," offensive coordinator Paul Petrino said. "This is the week where you have to fight through and come to work hard, trying to get better every day. It’s not a game week and it’s not the first two weeks of fall camp. We need to make sure we come out with great effort and continue to improve."

Tuesday’s practice included a little bit of everything including drills in game-like situations. Improved performances at Saturday’s scrimmage and more reps in practice this week may lead to movement on the depth chart.

"London (Crawford) had a great day at our scrimmage on Saturday," Petrino said. "He played well and made a lot of big plays for us. So did Jarius Wright. Those two probably stepped forward at the receiver position."

Another group that has turned some heads this fall is Arkansas’ tight ends. Expected to be involved in numerous offensive plays come game time, Petrino looks for the group of seasoned tight ends to play at the level they are capable of.

"Our tight ends are doing a pretty good job," Petrino said. "They can play better. They need to pick up their game a little bit and start playing better. The offensive line had a good day and Casey (Dick) had a good day."

Casey Dick is the returning quarterback with the most in-game experience and he has shown great improvement during the off-season. Behind Dick is a group of young quarterbacks battling day in and day out to earn a spot on the depth chart.

"I think there is some good competition (behind Casey Dick)," Petrino said. "Tyler (Wilson) is looking really good and improving. Nathan (Dick) had a pretty good day today. There is good competition there and we have to let them keep fighting to see who comes out on top."

The Razorbacks will return to the practice field at 4 p.m. for Tuesday’s second practice. For more information about Arkansas Athletics, visit ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
