Franks and Pisechko Named Academic All-Americans

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Two student-athletes from the University of Arkansas men’s track and field program were named to the Capital One Academic All-America team. Nathanael Franks and Andrew Pisechko, have been selected as Academic All-Americans by CoSIDA as announced on Thursday.

Arkansas’ first male recipient of the prestigious SEC H. Boyd McWhorter Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Franks garnered Capital One Academic All-American First Team honors. The decathlete qualified for his second NCAA outdoor championships with a season best 7,343 points at the 2015 SEC Outdoor Championships. Franks is currently working on completing his second master’s having earned his first in May 2014 in business management. He also holds two bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and physics.

This is Pisechko’s second consecutive Academic All-American honor. The Webb City, Mo. native was the third leg of the fifth-place finishing distance-medley relay at the 2015 SEC Indoor Championships. The middle distance runner helped Arkansas’ 4×800-meter relay team claim the runner up spot at the 2015 Drake Relays. Prior to this honor, Pisechko was recognized as the recipient of the 2014 NCAA Elite 89 Award. The Arkansas junior carries a 4.0 cumulative grade-point average in accounting.

Franks and Pisechko are also USTFCCCA All-Americans with Franks in the decathlon and Pisechko in the DMR.
