Hays Rejoins Program as Director of Operations

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – After a standout career in a Razorback jersey, Meredith Hays will rejoin the University of Arkansas volleyball program as its new director of operations as announced Friday by head coach Jason Watson. In her new role with the Razorbacks, Hays will be responsible for handling day-to-day team functions and coordinating team travel.

“Meredith is someone that has had a profound influence on volleyball at the University of Arkansas,” Watson said. “In her new capacity as a member of our staff, she will continue to help us shape our program. I’ve come to learn of her passion for volleyball and love for Arkansas. She is the perfect fit for our staff and student-athletes.”

During her two seasons in Fayetteville, Hays was twice named an AVCA All-America Honorable Mention performer, a two-time All-SEC selection and helped lead the Razorback to the 2013 NCAA Tournament. She finished her playing career at Arkansas ranked second in kills per set (4.15), fourth in points per set (4.64), 16th in total kills (962) and 17th in digs per set (2.40).

As one of the most prolific attackers in program history, Hays recorded double-digit kills in 55 of her 61 matches played at Arkansas including 15 matches with 20 or more kills. She established career highs of 29 kills, 18 digs and seven total blocks during her senior campaign in 2014, in which she led the SEC and finished 22nd in the NCAA with 4.34 kills per set.

The Hereford, Texas, native has remained active in the volleyball community in Northwest Arkansas, primarily taking on an instructor role within the Ozark Juniors Volleyball Club. While completing her undergraduate degree in human development and family sciences, Hays continued her presence in Arkansas’ Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and provided analysis on the SEC Network+ streams of the Razorbacks’ home matches.
