Hester inks Oklahoma standout this week

FAYETTEVILLE – University of Arkansas women’s golf coach Kelley Hester announced the signing of Lucy Nunn, a prep standout from Oklahoma to a National Letter of Intent recently. Nunn, a Lawton, Okla., native, is the top prospect out of the Sooner State this year and Hester is pleased to add her to the team. “Lucy is the top player out of the state of Oklahoma,” said Hester. “She’s an outstanding student and athletes and I expect her to come in right away and contribute immediately.” Nunn begins her senior season as the highest nationally-ranked junior player from the state. She has qualified twice for the United States Junior Girls Championship and had four top five finishes on the American Junior Golf Association Tour in 2004. Nunn finished sixth at the 2003 PGA Westfield Championship with a final round 69 and won both the conference and regional high school titles that season. In addition, Nunn is ranked No. 30 by the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings for the class of 2005. “She has dominated junior girls golf in the state (of Oklahoma) the last three years and we’re excited about her being a Razorback,” said Hester. Lucille Mary Elizabeth Nunn is the youngest of two children to Ron and Cindy Nunn of Lawton, Okla. Nunn plans to major in kinesiology at Arkansas and hopes to compete on the LPGA Tour after graduation. The Lady Razorbacks are in the midst of their winter break and return to the links at the Central District Classic Feb. 21-23, in Parrish, Fla.
