Hogs Place Two on List of Top Running Backs

The Arkansas Razorbacks have placed two on a list of the nation’s Top 25 running backs released by Sporting News. Junior Alex Collins checks in at No. 10 while senior Jonathan Williams ranks No. 11.

The dynamic duo each rushed for more than 1,000 yards in 2014, the only pair of teammates to top the 1,000-yard mark last season. Williams ranks 10th in program annals with 2,321 career rushing yards while Collins enters his junior season ranked 14th in school history with 2,126 career rushing yards.

Sporting News’ Matt Hayes said the following about Collins:

“The Hogs have two elite tailbacks, and it’s hard to choose one over the other. The edge for Collins: his speed and game-breaking ability. Collins runs every carry like it’s the last of his career.”

And Williams:

“A bruiser and pile mover; the perfect tailback for coach Bret Bielema’s ground-and-pound offense. Stayed for his senior season, and will be a key factor in Arkansas’ rise to SEC elite.”

Arkansas opens spring practice on Monday, March 16 after the Razorbacks closed the 2014 season winning three of its final four games against powers LSU, Ole Miss and Texas. The Razorbacks finished 7-6 with a 31-7 win over Texas in the AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl, marking Arkansas’ first winning season since 2011.
