Hogs host Mississippi State Ole Miss this weekend

FAYETTEVILLE – The No. 42 University of Arkansas men’s tennis team will face No. 69 Mississippi State and No. 2 Ole Miss in its final home matches of the season this weekend. The Razorbacks (10-10, 2-6) will celebrate Senior Day on Sunday, honoring seniors Blake Strode and Connor Smith in a short ceremony before the start of singles play.

Entering Friday’s match, the Bulldogs (5-11, 1-7) are looking to snap an eight match losing streak and avenge a 4-3 loss to the Hogs last season in Starkville, Miss. Not having won a road match since winning at Auburn on March 13, Mississippi State will be ready to play behind No. 88-ranked Ryan Farlow and their No. 1 doubles duo of Chris Doerr and Tanner Stump.

To close out the home season, the Razorbacks will go up against their highest-ranked opponent this season in the Ole Miss Rebels (18-2, 8-0). The Rebels are perfect in Southeastern Conference play this season with their only losses coming to Southern California and Baylor. Led by its three top 40-ranked singles players, Jonas Berg (23), Devin Britton (29) and Kalle Norberg (37), Ole Miss also boasts the No. 2 doubles team in the country in Berg and Bram ten Berge.

After the conclusion of doubles play on Sunday, the Razorbacks will recognize Strode and Smith for their accomplishments at Arkansas and their contributions to the team.

Friday’s match with Mississippi State is set for 1:30 p.m. at the George M. Billingsley Tennis Center and Dills Indoor Stadium. The Senior Day match against Ole Miss will begins at 1 p.m.
