Hopkin Named SEC Women’s Swimmer of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Senior sprinter Anna Hopkin has been named the Southeastern Conference Women’s Swimmer of the Week, as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon. The recognition is the third for Hopkin in her career. She was last recognized almost a year today back in 2019 (January 22).

“I am excited that Anna is getting recognition for some amazing in-season swims this past weekend.” Coach Neil Harper said, “She and the team are working very hard right now so we are excited about her performance and where the entire team is – preparing ourselves for SEC’s in a month.”

Hopkin had an outstanding performance this past weekend, setting two new pool records with her NCAA A-cut time in the 50 free (21.58) and her NCAA B-cut time in the 100 free (47.40). The Preston, England, native, bested Maritza Corriea’s 100 free (48.29) pool record, set in 2002, by nearly a whole second. Hopkin has had a sensational career in her just two short years at the Hill, breaking four individual school records a total of 15 times along with being a part of three school-record relays that have been broken seven times.
