Huckabee earns strength and conditioning award

FAYETTEVILLE – University of Arkansas junior Dayna Huckabee was selected as a 2007 National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year, it was recently announced. The Texarkana, Ark., native is a top student-athlete, a two-time NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete and led her team last year with most doubles, triples and RBIs, and had the highest slugging percentage. This season Huckabee continues to lead the team as one of four upperclassmen. She started every game this season and leads the team in RBIs. “I’m thrilled for Dayna,” said head coach Jamie Pinkerton. “It’s a tough award to win and it goes to show the type of work ethic Dayna has in the classroom, on the field and in the weight room.” Huckabee is just one of two student-athletes from the Southeastern Conference selected for the award. “Dayna exhibits the attitude and drive of an elite athlete,” said strength and conditioning coach Nick Kalra. “She is a goal-oriented individual who has the highest expectations for herself and gives an all-out effort everyday. I have been lucky to work with such a gifted and motivated individual.” The NSCA All-American Strength and Conditioning Athletes of the Year program recognizes those collegiate athletes whose athletics accomplishments, in the opinion of their strength coach, reflect their dedication to strength training and conditioning. These athletes are also recognized for their academic and personal accomplishments and their integrity as student athletes.
