Hunter Awarded SEC Defensive Player of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Senior defender Bryana Hunter was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. Hunter provided pressure on both ends of the ball this week, recording a combined 180 minutes versus No. 19 Auburn and Mississippi State.

She notched a combined five shots, with three of them on goal. Hunter connected on a shot in the 69th minute versus Mississippi State, helping the Hogs secure the victory and claim the SEC regular-season title outright.

On the defensive end, she helped render both of this week’s opponents to single-digit shot totals.

Hunter has logged 1,352 minutes this season, the most of any position player on the team.

The award is Hunter’s second of the season, and the second of her career.

Fourth-ranked Arkansas returns to action Thursday, Oct. 28, to face LSU in Baton Rouge, La for the regular season finale. First kick is set for 7 p.m. CT and the match will be televised on SEC Network.
