FAYETTEVILLE – Junior Kristin Ingram ended her fall season on a high note when she tied for fifth at the Stanford Invitational, leading the Arkansas women’s golf team to a surging eighth-place finish at the event.

Ingram shot even par on Sunday morning to end the three-round tournament two under par (70-70-71-211) to tie Duke’s Mina Harigae and Jennie Lee for fifth and move up one spot from her position entering the round. Ingram was just five shots off medalist Lizette Salas of Southern California.

“I am really proud of this team and the way they played this weekend,” Arkansas head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor said. “They finished really strong and it’s a great way to build as we go into our offseason.”

As a team the Razorbacks were six under par over the final three holes of the tournament to move into a tie for eighth overall with California at 20 over par. The Razorbacks were seven over for the day, the fifth best team score, shooting 291 for a final score of 872.

“I was especially pleased with the way that we finished,” Estes-Taylor said. “There are a lot of things that came up during the short fall season that we can build and work upon and are correctable or fixable. We’ll get better in the off season.”

UCLA won the Stanford Invitational with a three-round score of 844 to edge Southern California by three strokes. The host Stanford finished third with a three-round total of 857.

After Ingram, junior Alex Schulte and sophomore Kelli Shean finished tied for 38th in the overall standings with seven over par 220s. Schulte shot 73 on Sunday afternoon, two over par for the day while Shean was four over at 75. Senior Lucy Nunn rounded out the Razorback scoring on Sunday with a round of 72, a stark improvement from Saturday to finish tied for 48th at 221 for the tournament.

The Razorback women’s golf team’s next competition is slated for March 13-15, the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic in Baton Rouge, La. For more information regarding Razorback women’s golf or University of Arkansas athletics please visit ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
