Killian Taken by Rockies in Ninth Round of MLB Draft

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Junior right-hander Trey Killian was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the ninth round with the 257th overall pick. He becomes the second Razorback chosen in the 2015 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

Killian has been Arkansas’ ace this season, leading the team with seven quality starts. He pitched six innings and gave up just three runs on eight hits in Friday’s Super Regional win over Missouri State and will take the mound for the Razorbacks in Saturday’s College World Series opener.

Earlier this season, Killian earned Louisville Slugger National Pitcher of the Week honors after tossing seven perfect innings at Vanderbilt, the defending national champion and College World Series participant.

The Mountain Home, Arkansas native had an outstanding 2014 campaign, pitching 94 innings and recording a 2.30 earned run average with 14 starts. He threw four complete games, all four against teams that made the NCAA Tournament, and allowed two earned runs or less in 10 starts. Last summer he represented his country by pitching for USA Baseball.
