LaBarbera Opens Stroke Play In Tennessee

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – University of Arkansas freshman Jordy LaBarbera carded a first-round 79 at the Women’s Western Golf Association 115th National Amateur Championship at Nashville Golf and Athletic Club in Brentwood, Tenn., Monday.

The Allen, Texas, native posted a 41 on the front nine and improved with a 38 on the back nine in the first round of stroke play.  LaBarbera will attempt to move up the leaderboard in the second day of stroke play competition Tuesday.

Match play begins Wednesday with the low 64 players from the stroke play portion of the tournament moving into the Championship Flight.  All other players will be divided up into flights of 16.  Match play continues through Friday.

LaBarbera played in 13 rounds during her freshman season with the Razorbacks averaging 76.31 in her first year.  She had one top-10 finish with a career-best round of 70.
