Lady'Backs earn academic honor

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas 2005-06 softball team ranked 30th in the nation in the National Fast Pitch Coaches Association All-Academic Team Division I category, it was announced today. The team recorded a 3.27 team grade point average and ranked fourth among teams in the Southeastern Conference with only Mississippi State, Florida and Kentucky positioned higher. The Lady’Backs improved their team GPA and ranking from that in 2004-05, when the squad posted a 3.166 GPA and ranked 40th. Pinkerton said he was pleased that his team achieved success in the classroom and hopes to continue the Lady’Back tradition. “On the academic front, I am real pleased with our team as a whole,” said Pinkerton. “Since I arrived here it has been a focal point of our staff to make improvements on our team GPA. We are really proud of that and look forward to maintaining that excellence.” The NFCA All-Academic Teams are based on cumulative GPAs submitted by NFCA member head coaches for the 2005-06 academic year.
