Lady'Backs host No 29 LSU in 2007 home finale

FAYETTEVILLEComing off a 5-2 Southeastern Conference victory over Alabama, the University of Arkansas Lady Razorbacks women’s tennis team will look to push their overall record over .500 as the Lady Tigers of Louisiana State University come to Fayetteville.

The final Lady Razorback (10-10, 3-7) home match of the season takes place Saturday April 14 at noon not only features No. 29 ranked Lady Tigers (13-7, 5-5) coming to Fayetteville, but also sophomore Megan Falcon who is the #3 ranked women’s tennis player in the nation.

Lady’Back sophomore Ela Kaluder, ranked #37 in the nation, should provide a tough match up against Falcon on court one.

Also this weekend the Lady’Backs hope to accomplish a feat which has not been done since 2000: beat the Lady Tigers. Back on March 29, 2000, in Fayetteville with a final score of 5-4 was the last time the Lady’Backs defeated the Lady Tigers.

Head coach Michael Hegarty looks for an exciting match, but isn’t sure whether the event will be indoors or outdoors. Forecasts for the weekend may bring the final match of the year inside with heavy rains and cold temps in the reports.

Last season the Lady’Backs dropped two matches to LSU, 5-2 and 4-2 respectively, with the latter coming in the first round of the SEC Tournament.

Admission to the match is free. For more information on Arkansas tennis or any other Lady’Back sport, please visit LADYBACKS.com.
