Lady'Backs Return to Pool For Fall Finale

FAYETTEVILLE-The University of Arkansas swimming and diving team travels to College Station, Texas, for the Aggie Invitational, Nov. 19-21. The invitational featuring host Texas A&M, along with Southern Methodist, Louisiana State and the Lady’Backs wraps up the fall season for Arkansas. Competition begins at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Head coach Anne Goodman James said she expects the Lady’Backs to qualify for the post season as they spend the weekend competing after an off-week. In the Lady’Backs last contest, they won six events but lost the dual meet 119-86 to Washington State in Pullman, Wash. Arkansas’ divers return to the pool for the first time since Oct. 30 after not competing at Washington State.

“Our goal for this meet like it is for the invitational for the fall every year, is that we’re going for season best times as well as some NCAA Championship qualifying standards,” Goodman James said.

The Lady’Back seniors have led the way for the squad as Whitney Lynn is undefeated in the 1,000 free and Zsuzsa Csobanki narrowly missed a NCAA ‘B’ qualifying mark by .03 seconds in the 50 free against Drury in the first meet of the season.

Goodman James said Texas A&M’s natatorium should provide the means for the Lady’Backs to qualify for NCAAs.

“This is the same facility where the NCAA Championships were last year, which means it is a very, very good facility,” Goodman James. “It’s a fast pool.”
