Lawson Finishes Fifth at USATF Outdoor Championships
EUGENE, Ore. – The University of Arkansas men’s track and field team sent three into competition at two national championships. The Razorbacks were represented at the USATF Outdoor Championships in the junior section by Ethan Moehn and in senior events by Jarrion Lawson. At the Jamaican National Championships, Clive Pullen was the first of three to challenge the field.
Monroe, Wis. native, Moehn maintained a steady pace in heat two of the 1500 meter run keeping with the lead pack. The Arkansas freshman finished 16th overall with a time of 4:15.49.
A five-time All-American in long jump, Lawson began the day with a first attempt mark of 8.11m/26-7.25. The Arkansas junior improved on the second attempt jumping 8.33m/27-4w. Lawson qualified for the finals with a third place finish in the first round. Opening the finals with a foul, Lawson extended his mark to 8.36m/27-5.25w on his last jump to finish in fifth place.
Over in Jamaica, Clive Pullen finished sixth in the triple jump at the national meet with a distance of 15.87m/52-0.75.
