Lewis attends LPGA press event; Golf team to sign autographs

FAYETTEVILLE — University of Arkansas senior Stacy Lewis attended a media function kicking off the 2007 LPGA NW Arkansas Championship presented by John Q. Hammons Friday. The media event was held prior to the LPGA NW Arkansas Championship Kids Day Saturday. The entire Lady Razorback golf team and coaches will be on hand from 1:00-4:00 p.m. for photographs and autographs at the John Q. Hammons Convention Center in Rogers, Ark. Lewis received one of two sponsors exemptions to play in the event Sept. 3-9 at Pinnacle Country Club. She met with the media at a luncheon at Pinnacle and had this to say about the event. "I love this golf course," said Lewis. "I’m so excited to bring an LPGA event to my ‘hometown.’ The course will be challenging and I hope the pros will love it. I’m really looking forward to it." Lewis, a The Woodlands, Texas, native, has had a busy summer. After winning the 2007 NCAA National Championship, she won the Southern Amateur title, played for the United States leading them to women’s and team titles at the Copa de las Americas, participated in the U.S. Women’s Open, the U.S. Women’s Amateur and the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic. In addition, Lewis will participate in the LPGA’s State Farm Classic in Springfield, Ill., Aug. 30-Sept. 2.
