Lewis leads Lady'Back golf in final round
Jump to results ATHENS, Ga. – University of Arkansas junior Stacy Lewis carded a one-over par 72 leading the No. 24 Lady Razorbacks to a third-place finish at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Ga., Sunday. Lewis pared her final seven holes en route to her 72 finishing tied for 10th overall with a 220 (74-74-72). "Stacy was solid all day," said assistant coach Shauna Etes. "She learned form the course each day that she played it and got stronger as the tournament went on." Sophomore Lucy Nunn finished the weekend with a 223 (72-75-76) and was 15th overall. Junior Ashley Medder tied for 24th with a 226 (79-71-76) while freshman Kristin Ingram tied for 33rd with a 228 (75-77-76). Freshman Corinna Rees rounded out the Arkansas scoring tying for 81st with a 244 (79-81-84). Sixth-ranked Auburn led the field wire-to-wire finishing with a 289 in the final round for an 881 (293-299-289). Eighth-ranked Florida nipped the Lady’Backs in the final round finishing five strokes better with an 892 (300-298-294), followed by No. 24 Arkansas with an 897 (300-297-300). The Lady’Backs finished one stroke better than No. 33 Alabama who posted a final round 295 for an 898 (302-301-295) with No. 18 Purdue rounding out the top five with a 902 (304-299-299). Number 17 Virginia (303-296-306) was sixth with a 905, one better than No. 19 Wake Forest who finished with a 906 (307-292-307). Host and third-ranked Georgia was eighth on their home course while No. 32 South Carolina and No. 29 Florida State were ninth and 10th, respectively. Arkansas next travels to the Susie Maxwell Berning Invitational April 8-9, in Norman, Okla. It is the final tune up prior to the Southeastern Conference Championship April 20-22, at Old Waverly in West Point, Miss.
