Lewis tied for second at Liz Murphey
Jump to agate FAYETTEVILLE – University of Arkansas freshman Stacy Lewis continued to play well shooting a second round 74 and is tied for second overall after Saturday’s play at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Ga. Lewis is tied for second overall with a 146 but Arkansas slipped to 10th overall after a 313 set the team back to 619 (306-313) after day two action. “We really struggled today,” said head coach Kelley Hester. “Stacy was still steady. We had good conditions and the weather was nice but we didn’t play well. We’re going to regroup and see what we can do Sunday.” Junior Courtney Mahon checked in with a second-round 78 for 155 and is tied for 42nd overall while Lindsey Hinshaw carded an 80 for a 163 (83-80). Junior Amanda McCurdy and senior Gena Johnson each posted 81s with Johnson tied for 60th overall at 159 (78-81) and McCurdy tied for 66th at 160 (79-81). Host Georgia leads the field with a 592 (298-294) and paced Saturday’s action with a 294. Tulane is second at 599 (301-298), followed by Louisiana State with a 600 (300-300). Auburn (601), Tennessee (607) and Wake Forest (607) round out the top five in the field. Furman is seventh overall with a 613, followed by Mississippi State (614), Ohio State (615) and Arkansas (619) in the top 10.
