FAYETTEVILLE, Ark., Jan. 19, 2010 — Lift Up America and the University of Arkansas are teaming up with Tyson Foods, Inc. (NYSE:TSN) to help bring the gift of food to the area’s less fortunate on Saturday. For the third year in a row, more than 50 Razorback student-athletes will be on hand to help unload the food during the donation announcement taking place at the Broyles Center. Tyson will be donating more than 38,000 pounds of food which will be distributed by the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank to its partner agencies. The donation event will begin with a news conference at 10 a.m. followed by the food distribution.

Speakers at the press conference will include Dave Hannah, founder and chairman of Lift Up America; Marge Wolf, executive director of NWA Food Bank; John Tyson of Tyson Foods, Inc.; and Jeff Long, vice chancellor and director of athletics of the University of Arkansas.

“The positive impact each of these organizations has on their community is so significant already,” says Hannah. “It is truly inspirational to see them coming together with such a noble goal in mind.”

“This is the third consecutive year Tyson Foods has teamed up with the Razorbacks and Lift Up America to bring food and awareness of hunger to Northwest Arkansas,” says Tyson, Tyson Foods Chairman. “It’s an honor for us to be involved with these two great partners in making these donations, especially now, when the national economy has placed tremendous strain on the emergency food system.”

“At the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank, we provide low-cost food to the hundreds of pantries and agencies that are on the front lines of hunger relief,” says Wolf. “Donations of poultry and other high protein foods are especially valuable as they allow us to provide our clients with more healthy, nutritious options.”

“Razorback Athletics is proud to partner once again with Tyson Foods and Lift Up America to help provide food to those in our community through the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank,” says Long. “In these trying times, it is imperative that we continue to work together to raise awareness of the need for hunger relief.”

Since 2000, Tyson Foods has been a leader in the fight against hunger. The company is actively engaged in food-donation events and fund-raising activities year-round to benefit those in need.
