Men's cross runs in Joplin

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Razorback men’s cross country will continue the 2009 season with an 8K race at the Missouri Southern Stampede. The gun will go off at 9:45 a.m. Sat., Sept. 19 at the MSSU XC Course in Joplin, Mo.

Lane Boyer, Michael Chinchar, Cameron Efurd, Rick Elliott, Eric Fernandez, Michael Golden, Solomon Haile, Aaron Hamilton, Rio Reina and Patrick Russell are slated to compete for the Razorbacks this weekend. Also scheduled to compete in Joplin this weekend are Abilene Christian, Harding, Oklahoma and Oral Roberts, among others.

In the first edition of the USTFCCCA weekly rankings, the Razorbacks are listed at No. 1 in the South Central rankings and No. 18 in the national poll. The Razorbacks are one of three SEC teams listed, with Alabama and Auburn also making appearances.

The Razorbacks recorded a perfect score of 15 points at their 2009 season opener, the Arkansas Invitational. Haile made the most of his Razorback debut and took the four-mile race win in a time of 19:43.9. He led his teammates to a perfect score of 15 points. Fernandez earned a runner-up finish with a time of 20:06.0.
