Men's golf starts spring season

HUMBLE, Texas – The University of Arkansas men’s golf team is getting an early start to its spring season when it competes in a single-round outing at the Red Stone Golf Club in Humble, Texas, on Saturday morning. The Razorbacks will tee off against the University of Houston and Houston Baptist at 7:30 a.m. on the course that is scheduled to host the PGA Tour’s Shell Houston Open in April.

Arkansas was originally scheduled to open the spring season on Sunday, Feb. 14, at the Battle at the Beach in Calif., but with fall rainouts was able to schedule the one-round affair in Houston.

The Razorbacks had a successful fall season led by senior David Lingmerth who averaged 70.77 in 13 fall rounds. Over five tournaments, Lingmerth shot five under par collectively and had three tournaments where he shot par or better and earned four top 10 finishes. Senior Jamie Marshall also had a good fall with a stroke average of 71.92 over 13 rounds and was champion of the Wolverine at Radrick Farms in late September.
