No. 3 Razorbacks Host Arkansas Qualifier

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 3 Razorback women’s track and field team hosts its final indoor home meet with Friday’s Arkansas Qualifier, which begins at 1:45 p.m. with field events while running events start at 4:30 p.m., as the team goes through final preparations for upcoming postseason meets.

“This meet serves a dual purpose,” said Arkansas women’s head coach Lance Harter. “Some athletes are winding up their indoor season, while others are continuing on with the conference meet and potentially the national championships. This is an opportunity to do a fine tune-up prior to our departure next week.

“Last weekend was exceptional with all the life-time best marks and served as a reconfirmation to the athletes as well as the coaching staff that we’re right on schedule with our training and ultimately being prepared for the SEC Indoors as well as the NCAA Championships.”

The Arkansas Qualifier is another progressive step in the indoor season for the Razorback sprinters and hurdlers, while some members of the distance squad will drop down from their usual race distance to shorter competitions.

“Basically, this will be a time to have some fun and maybe run in an event they typically don’t run,” noted Harter. “We will try to take advantage of their training and enjoy a low-key competition.”

Kaitlyn Banas, the SEC Freshman of the Week two weeks ago, will lead a Razorback trio in a pole vault field of 25 as she is joined by Genna Potter and Grace Ridgeway.

Arkansas alums entered in the meet include Janeek Brown (60m, 200m) and Sparkle McKnight (400m).
