Pigliacampi Earns SEC Community Service Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- Senior Marlena Pigliacampi has been named to 2019 SEC Women’s Swimming and Diving Community Service team, announced by the league on Tuesday.

"This is an amazing honor for Marlena. She exemplifies the typical commitment that this team has had to our community in Northwest Arkansas," head coach Neil Harper said.

Pigliacampi has participated in community service projects both individually and with the team. She has volunteered at the Sunshine State Championships and regularly works with Meals on Wheels.

The Ormond Beach, Fla. native visits patients at the VA Hospital and volunteers with the local Speical Olympics chapter. She helped raise money for SAAC to take local kids Christmas shopping and helped pack meals for food pantries in Arkansas with Fearless Food Fight.

A 2017 Athletics Director’s List selection, she holds the team’s top time in the 200 yard butterfly this season and the team’s top time in the 800 yard freestyle relay this season.

“Our entire team is committed to community service engagement and service, and we have been led by our brilliant seniors, Marlena in particular, to help us win the Lee Spencer Cup within our own athletic department,” Harper continued. It is great to see the SEC family not only challenge for national championships and academic excellence but total commitment to community service. We are so proud of all of our student-athletes!”
