Pinkerton recognized by NFCA for 200th victory

FAYETTEVILLE – University of Arkansas head softball coach Jamie Pinkerton was recently recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for earning his 200th victory this past season.

The Easton Victory Club award was presented to Pinkerton at a special luncheon during the NFCA National Convention in Las Vegas, Nev., at the beginning of December.

“It was an honor to be recognized in front of my peers at the convention,” said Pinkerton. “Hopefully I’ll keep climbing the ladder with many more wins.”

Pinkerton earned his 200th victory defeating Kentucky 2-0 at Lady’Back Yard on April 1, 2007. Katy Henry fanned eight from the mound in a complete-game shutout, while Dayna Huckabee hit the game-winning RBI single in the fourth inning. Arkansas swept the three-game series against Kentucky with Pinkerton’s 200th win.

Pinkerton enters the 2008 season with 206 career victories.

NFCA-member coaches that reach 100-win, 200-win, 300-win and beyond plateaus are recognized by the NFCA. Other coaches honored included Arizona’s Mike Candrea, Iowa’s Gayle Blevins and LSU’s Yvette Girouard to name a few.
