Razorback Duo Earns Preseason All-SEC Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference unveiled its 13th annual men’s basketball coaches preseason All-SEC first and second teams on Thursday afternoon with a pair of Razorback seniors represented on the list.

Senior Moses Kingsley picked up first team nods after earning SEC Player of the Year honors by the media, while senior Dusty Hannahs finds himself on the second team. The Razorbacks put multiple players on the teams for the first time since 2012 when BJ Young and Marshawn Powell garnered preseason props from the conference.

Ten different schools are represented on the two teams as Arkansas was one of five programs in the league with multiple selections. In all, 31 different players received votes for the coaches’ teams.

The coaches’ preseason All-SEC first and second teams consist of a minimum of eight players on each squad, voted on by the SEC Head Men’s Basketball Coaches. No ties were broken and no predicted order of finish was made.

The awards continue to pile up for Kingsley, who is on watch lists for two national player of the year honors with the Naismith Trophy and the Lute Olson Award. He is also on the watch list for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award as the nation’s top center.

Hannahs adds another preseason honor to his name after landing on the watch list for the prestigious Jerry West Award as the nation’s best shooting guard. The second team nod from the league head coaches is his first SEC award in his second season in the conference.

Arkansas will open the regular season on Friday, Nov. 11, welcoming Fort Wayne to town who was picked to win the Summit League regular season championship. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. in Bud Walton Arena.
