Razorback Swim and Dive to Face No. 21 Houston and No. 11 Texas A&M

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Razorback swim and dive heads to the Lonestar state to face No. 21 Houston on Friday, Jan. 24, at noon and then will be back in the pool to battle SEC foe No. 11 Texas A&M Saturday at 11 a.m.

This will be the 19th time Arkansas will encounter the Cougars, holding a 14-4 lead and a four-meet win streak. In spring 2019, the Hogs defeated Houston, 192-107, on the Hill, recording 13 wins and 27 podium finishes. Junior Peyton Palsha picked up three individual first place finishes while three other Razorbacks recorded two.

Arkansas and the Aggies have split their 12 meetings all time. The SEC foes last met in College Station in the 2014-2015 season when the Hogs fell, 170-120, giving A&M its first dual meet win of the season.

THE OPPONENTS:

Houston last competed in the Phill Hansel Invitational on November 23, 2019 claiming its fourth straight win and accumulating 1,737 points over three days. Junior Ioanna Sacha and senior Laura Laderoute led the Cougars to a 1-2 finish in the 200 backstroke, along with senior Isabel Tank who placed fourth with a lifetime best in the finals of the 200 fly (1:59.99).

Texas A&M women’s swimming & diving team defeated LSU on the road, 191.5-105.5, on their latest outing on January 18. The Aggies earned the top spot in 15 events and secured multiple sweeps. The Maroon and White started off the meet with a 1-2-3 finish in the 1000 free by junior Joy Field (10:06.89), junior Camryn Toney (10:10.17) and freshman Ashley Conrad (10:18.22). The Aggies wrapped up the competition with a first-place finish in the 400 free relay (3:23.64) by Katie Portz, Golf Sapianchai, Emma Carlton and Raena Eldridge.
