Razorback Football Reports for Pre-season Camp

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas football head coach Houston Nutt welcomed his players to campus Thursday when the team reported for the beginning of pre-season camp before the Razorbacks first practice Saturday.

The players will be involved in a couple of team meetings today and continue through other orientation-related meetings tomorrow in order to get ready for the upcoming schedule and season.

Coach Nutt says it will be important to add depth at positions all over the field. With the graduation of key players on both sides of the ball, the opportunities will be there for players to step in.

That depth could come for the newest crop of Razorbacks that could see several players contribute this year. Several newcomers like offensive lineman Seth Oxner and linebacker Jermaine Love have positioned themselves to contribute to the success of this year’s team.

“This is an exceptional class. I love their character and their attitude,” Coach Nutt said about the incoming freshman.

The team will also be counting on veteran leadership from its quarterback position where Coach Nutt feels junior Casey Dick is primed to have his best season as a Razorback.

The coaching staff will also be looking for sharpness and execution of the group of plays that are put into the system each day during the first weeks of practice. The team will begin working with the Wildcat offense on the first day.

“We are going to be looking to execute better each time because you want to be able to execute under pressure,” said Coach Nutt who also stressed the importance of being familiar with the various schemes.

New players will take the field first at 3 p.m. before being joined by the rest of the team. Saturday’s practice will be open to the public. After a day off Sunday, the Razorbacks will be back on the practice field. All practices next week will also be open to the public.

The first day of two-a-day practices will be Friday, August 3. Log on to www.hogwired.com for the latest practice news and updates.
