Razorback Golfers Compete at Fighting Irish Classic

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas men’s golf team will travel to Notre Dame, Ind., to participate in the Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic. The UA lineup will consist of Barrett Lais, Andrew Landry, David Lingmerth, Allen McFerran and Jason Turner. The Razorbacks will be one of twelve teams teeing off Sunday at 7:30 a.m. CT on the par-70, 7,011-yard Warren Golf Course.

Landry and Lingmerth have traded top UA finishes during the first two events of the year and come into the Classic with identical 73.17 scoring averages on the season. At last week’s Wolf Run Intercollegiate, Lingmerth finished as the top Arkansas performer and tied for 16th overall with Landry one shot behind him and tied for 19th overall.

Lais, also playing in his third event of the season, enters the weekend with a 73.67 scoring average. He finished last weekend in 23rd place after an eight-over-par 221.

Turner competed in his first event of the season last weekend at Wolf Run and tied for 29th place. McFerran will round out the Arkansas lineup with his first appearance as a member of the UA five-man team. He competed as an individual at the Gopher Invitational, the first event of the season for Razorbacks, where he finished tied for 21st place.

In the Sept. 25 Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index ratings, Arkansas is ranked No. 39 and will be joined by four other teams—Lamar, Michigan State, Indiana, Notre Dame—in the top 50 of the Index. Lamar and Michigan State are also ranked No. 21 and No. 24, respectively, in the Golf World/Nike Golf Top 25 coaches’ poll.

Arkansas is coming off a fourth-place finish at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate in Zionsville, Ind. The Razorbacks finished the tournament with a 29-over-par 881.
