OMAHA, Neb. – Four former and current Arkansas swimmers qualified for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials, which begin Sunday and continue through July 3 at the CenturyLink Center.

The Trials serve as the only selection meet for the U.S. Olympic Team competing at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The top two finishers in each race earn an Olympic berth and the top six finishers in the 100- and 200-meter freestyle can advance to fill out relay teams.

“The Olympic Games and Trials only happen every four years,” head coach Neil Harper said. “The qualification, preparation and build up make it a memorable and exciting time. Four of our international swimmers have already competed for their country at their respective Olympic Trials. Now we have four more Razorbacks who are entered in numerous events here at the U.S. Olympic Trials. We are excited to see how fast our ladies will compete here in Omaha on such a big stage, and hopefully they continue the momentum that’s been created so far.”

Arkansas will be represented by rising junior Jessie Garrison, rising sophomore Madison Strathman and two-time All-American and former Razorback Nikki Daniels. Anna Mayfield, a spring 2016 graduate, qualified for the 400-meter freestyle but will not compete.

Garrison is slated to swim the most events of any Razorback as she is a qualifier in the 200-meter butterfly as well as the 400- and 200-meter individual medley. Strathman will compete in the 100- and 200-meter breaststroke. Daniels, who swam for the Razorbacks from 2011-15, will also compete in the 100-meter breaststroke.

The preliminary heats for each day will begin at 10 a.m. CST, with semifinal and final heats starting at 6:45 p.m.

NBC Sports will live stream the Trials and will include all of the prelims and finals sessions. The road to Rio for U.S. swimmers will be available in high definition via NBC Sports online at NBCSports.com/Live, or through the NBC Sports app.
