Razorbacks Top Illini In First Spring Game

ST. LOUIS – Arkansas topped Illinois 1-0 Saturday afternoon at the Lou Fusz Soccer Complex in St. Louis to kick off the Razorbacks’ 2016 spring soccer schedule.

Senior forward Claire Kelley scored the game winning goal assisted by sophomore midfielder/forward Reid Sibley.

“We have a lot to work on, but we had some good things happen in areas that we’ve emphasized,” Arkansas head soccer coach Colby Hale said. “Illinois does some things really well and I thought we were able to take those away from them.”

The game, the first meeting between both teams, was a part of the annual Parkway College Showcase – an event spotlighting the best soccer players in the Midwest since 2002. This year’s Showcase featured 75 high school and college soccer teams.

Next up for Arkansas are the Oklahoma Sooners on April 9 in Tulsa, Oklahoma on the campus of Oral Roberts University. Kick off will be at 4 p.m. CDT.
