Razorbacks Continue Preparation for Season Opener

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. With the days winding down until kickoff of the 2007 season, Arkansas football head coach Houston Nutt is eager for the opener against Troy Saturday at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. Nutt thought his team had a good concentration level during practice.

“We’re excited and our guys are getting anxious,” Nutt said. “We’ve had a good camp, and now it’s time to play.”

The Razorbacks went through a 75-minute session Wednesday dressed out in their shoulder pads and shorts.

“Tomorrow we’ll go shells and it will be strictly a concentrated day of (working on) assignments, special teams, substitutions, drives and two-point plays,” Nutt said.

Nutt said the positions on the depth chart have been solidified, so the players have been working hard to focus on their responsibilities on the field.

After missing Tuesday’s workout, Matt Hewitt returned to practice and Nutt said the senior safety will be shaking off some rust to get ready for action. Offensive linemen DeMarcus Love and Kareem Crowell sat out during Wednesday’s practice.

The Razorbacks will continue to prepare for the season opener when they return to the practice fields Thursday. Log on to www.hogwired.com for continued coverage of Arkansas football.
