Box Score

AUBURN, Ala. – The University of Arkansas volleyball team began its weekend with a road sweep Friday at Auburn. With the result, the Razorbacks improve to 12-13 overall and even their conference mark at 6-6. Meredith Hays tallied her ninth double-double of the season with 13 kills and 10 digs while Chanell Clark-Bibbs registered nine kills and a match-high six total blocks.

The Razorbacks led throughout the early stages of the first set and used a five-point run after the media timeout to take a 21-13 lead. Auburn (10-14, 2-9 SEC) saved three sets before sending a serve long to hand the opening set to Arkansas. The Razorbacks jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the second set. Arkansas never relinquished the advantage and scored the final four points to go into intermission with the 2-0 match lead, sealing the set with a solo block by Samantha Skinner.

With the score tied at 3-all in the third set, Arkansas won five of the next six points to go ahead on the scoreboard and led 8-4 at the end of the push. The lead got as high as nine on a second-contact kill by Bailee Hankenson to give Arkansas a 20-11 advantage. The Tigers saved two match points before Skinner found the corner with her sixth kill of the match to clinch the win and snap the Razorbacks’ five-match slide.

With her ninth kill of the match, Hays moved in to sole possession of 18th place on the program’s career kills list. With her match-high output, the Hereford, Texas, native has 868 in her Arkansas career, moving past former standout Sara Kincaid (2002-03). Five of Hays’ nine double-doubles this season have come in SEC play. Hays and Holly Hankenson had two aces in the match.

Clark-Bibbs now has nine or more kills in five-consecutive matches, all of which coupled with a hitting percentage of .300 or higher. She hit .467 in Friday’s match against the Tigers. From the other middle position, the Razorbacks got six kills on 11 swings from Ana Sofia Jusino. Defensively, the Razorbacks held Auburn to a .124 hitting percentage behind nine total team blocks and match-high 11 digs from libero Monica Bollinger.

Arkansas closes out its weekend Sunday afternoon with a road match at Georgia. First serve of the weekend finale is set for 1 p.m. (CT) in Athens. The match will be aired on the SEC Network with Melissa Lee and Missy Whittemore handling the play-by-play and color commentary duties, respectively.
