@RazorbackWBB Continues Participation In SEC/Big 12 Challenge
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Southeastern and Big 12 conferences announced an extension of their women’s basketball challenge, expanding to 10 games in 2016 and 2017, and the University of Arkansas will again be part of the lineup.
Arkansas, along with Texas A&M, Texas and Oklahoma, were part of the inaugural event in December 2014, with two games played at Verizon Arena, in North Little Rock, Ark.
The expanded format features 10 SEC teams every team from the Big 12, with each conference hosting five home games on campus sites each year. The 2016 games are scheduled to take place Dec. 1-4, with the exact times to be announced next season.
The 2015 edition of the challenge mimics the first-year format and takes place in Oklahoma City, Okla., Dec. 20. Texas will play Arkansas and Oklahoma takes on Texas A&M as the teams reverse opponents.

“We are excited to see the SEC/Big 12 Challenge expand in women’s basketball,” said SEC Commissioner Mike Slive. “The matchups on these four days, each year, will showcase the strength and depth of our women’s basketball teams and provide the fans of both conferences with exhilarating games.”
About the Inaugural SEC/Big 12 Challenge
The inaugural challenge was held in 2014 in Little Rock, Ark., and featured a top 5 matchup with No. 3 Texas squaring off against No. 4 Texas A&M. Oklahoma and Arkansas, who were both receiving votes in the Associated Press Poll, played in the second game. The conferences split the Challenge with the two games decided by a total of nine points.
