Ricketts earns fourth SEC Freshman of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Freshman guard Ceira Ricketts continued to make Razorback women’s basketball history this week by earning her fourth Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week award.

Ricketts turned in her second double-double with points and assists of the season with 12 points and 10 assists at Georgia. She was Arkansas’ leading scorer earlier in the week at LSU with 11 points.

“Ceira continues to show us that she is elevating her game against the best players in the country,” UA head coach Tom Collen said. “By winning her fourth SEC Freshman of the Week honor, she certainly has to be one of the favorites to become a Freshman All-American on the national scene.”

After splitting its SEC games on the road, Arkansas returns home to Bud Walton Arena for a Thursday game with South Carolina at 7 p.m. The Razorbacks host Ole Miss on Sunday at 2 p.m. for the annual Pink Zone game.

Ricketts also enjoyed her best week of three-point shooting against conference opponents, hitting 33% from behind the arc.

The win at Georgia is the first ever for Arkansas at Athens for a SEC game, and broke a 27-game losing streak for the Razorbacks during the month of February.

Ricketts was named SEC Freshman of the Week in November, but has earned her other two awards against SEC competition.
