The day kicked off with the pentathlon and saw junior Alex Gochenour walk away with the title. Gochenour set a new personal-best with 4,259 points, while freshman Taliyah Brooks and sophomore Leigha Brown both finished with 4,155 points to finish third and fourth, respectively.

Senior Sandi Morris gave Razorback fans another show in the pole vault. Morris won the title with a mark of 15-3 to set a new personal-best and program record. The senior’s mark also gave her the No. 2 mark in college history and the best height not achieved at altitude. The Greenville, S.C. native also took three attempts at breaking the collegiate record, currently held by Demi Payne of Stephen F. Austin (15-7), but came up just short at 15-7.25.

In preliminary action, Brooks won her heat with a time of 8.50 to qualify for the semifinals of the 60 meter hurdles, while junior Shekara Boakye (7.58) and senior Tamara Myers (7.60) also advanced to Saturday’s semifinals after they both finished third in their heats. Myers’ time (7.60) was a new personal-best.

Action at the 2015 Razorback Invitational resumes on Saturday (Jan. 31) with the 3,000-meter run beginning at noon.
