FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas left-handed hurler Nick Schmidt was named to the 2006 College Baseball Foundation All-America team on Tuesday.

Schmidt, a St. Louis, Mo., native is one of seven pitchers named to the 29-man team that was compiled by the College Baseball Foundation. The CBF also presents the Brooks Wallace Award to the nation’s top collegiate baseball player and named Schmidt a semifinalist last week.

The sophomore went 9-3 on the season with a 2.98 ERA and a .203 opponent batting average. He has struck out 135, which is the second-most strikeouts in a single season in school history and ranks second in the Southeastern Conference.

Schmidt tossed a career-high 108.2 innings, while allowing only 80 hits and 36 earned runs.
