Soccer opens spring with neutral site match against Iowa

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Razorback soccer team will travel to St. Louis, MO. for a neutral site contest against the Iowa Hawkeyes in Arkansas’ first match of the spring. First kick on Saturday, Feb. 29 is set for 1 p.m. at the Creve Couer Park Soccer Complex.

The Razorbacks are coming off a successful fall, winning the program’s first regular season SEC title and earning its first national seed in the NCAA Tournament. Arkansas is returning 73 percent of its scoring after leading the conference in goals (62), assists (63) and points (187) in 2019.

The Razorbacks have added two transfers to the roster, goalkeeper Darby Douglas and forward McKenna Saul, along with early enrollees Ellie Podojil and Ainsley Jeffrey.

Iowa is coming off just its second NCAA Tournament berth in program history, picking up 15 wins during the 2019 season. The Hawkeyes graduated 13 players, including six starters, but bring back Samantha Tawharu and Gianna Gourley who return with five goals apiece last season. Arkansas and Iowa have never played during the regular season.
