Swimming jumps to No. 19

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas swimming and diving squad cracked the top 20 this week, moving up to No. 19 in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America poll. Previously ranked No. 22, the Razorbacks were one of two teams to move up three spots in the polls this week. Tennessee was the other team to makethe three-spotmove.Last weekend, the Razorbacks defeated then-No. 23 Missouri 159-141 at the Arkansas Natatorium for Arkansas’ first win over the Tigers in 14 years. At the same meet, Arkansas swept past Kentucky 164-134 for its first dual meet win over the Wildcats in 16 years.

For her performances at the meet, newcomer Yi Ting Siow was named SEC Swimmer of the Week earlier this week. Siow finished first in each of her three events (100 breast, 200 breast, 200 IM). Her time of 2:14.40 in the 200 breast is the second fastest time in school history and an NCAA ‘B’ cut time. Siow touched in at 1:03.04 in the 100 breast, taking over the No. 3 spot in the Arkansas records books and is now fourth in the Arkansas record books in the 200 IM with a time of 2:03.83.
